Getting close to the middle of nowhere
The road turns to dirt in the Modoc NF, but it is firmly packed and graded.
Along the Tule Lake Wildlife Preserve. Mostly vacant this time of year.

Today we ride! The F800GS is loaded, we are out of here. See you at the BMW National rally in Redmond, Oregon (July 15-18 2010).
Our trip will take us from Sacramento CA through Lava Beds National Monument with one night of camping at Indian Wells campground, and then on to the rally site. The plan is to enter Lava Beds from the south on a partially paved/dirt road. We will also be camping at the rally.
